Jefferson State Farms are located deep in the forested mountains of Southern Oregon. The Pacific Crest Trail carves its way through the farm’s backyards and fields, full of wildlife and flowers.
The Rouge Valley, the home of the farm, is set between two national forests with the Rouge River running through it. Thanks to heavy rainfall in the winter and sunny summers, there is an excellent climate for agriculture and fertile soil. They operate with a local network of growers and farmers, and together with growing cannabis, they also enjoy hiking, fishing, river rafting, hot springing, and more.
The people behind the farm claim that they are proud residents of the state of Jefferson and that they are most inspired by the ‘fights of our forefathers, notions of progress and freedom’. They claim that the history of their area has instilled in them the idea that by working together with their neighbors they can be advocates for positive change.
On their website they explain that after the Gold Rush in the 1850s and again in the 1940s after rapid national development, there was a push for a forty-ninth state where the open lands of Northern California and Southern Oregon could come together. They say that those pushing for this “stood outside the hearts of their states’ biggest cities and as their voices and concerns struggled to be heard, they sought their own laws and lawmakers.”
They say that this history can be used when looking forward into the cannabis industry. They question where they would be today without “people of the past who had the courage to propose new ideas and work hard to see to their success?”
The area of The Emerald Triangle was once full of gold and prospects, now they aim to turn the gold green and provide opportunities for all.
At the farm they grow a range of different strains including Purple Cookies, Lemon Kush and Birthday Cake. New strains are launched on a regular basis, and they are always updating their offerings. They specialize in craft cannabis and produce quality harvests from their highest-grade greenhouses. Rather than maximizing the farm’s yield potential, their primary aim is to produce quality harvests that reflect a genuine regard for the planet’s natural resources.
