A Prize Winnings Sativa

Super Lemon Haze won first prize in two consecutive years at the High Times Cannabis Cup (2008 and 2009) and it then won first prize at the IC420 Growers Cup. It has quickly become a very popular and recognisable strain that smokers readily enjoy.

In its original form, Super Lemon Haze is a sativa dominant hybrid that was created by Arjan from Green House Seeds. The breeder began with a female from his famous Super Silver Haze genetics, which won three consecutive Cannabis Cups from 1997 to 1999, and he carefully bred it in a 3-way cross of Haze, Skunk #1, and Northern Lights #5.

Arjan then bred the resulting product with the popular Lemon Skunk, a strain that made its way from Las Vegas to Amsterdam through a breeder known as The Lemon Man. This resulted in the Super Lemon Haze that is seen in dispensaries today.

Thanks to its genetics, Super Lemon Haze has sweet and tart lemony tastes and aromas. It produces a mellow high that begins in the body but quickly moves to the mind. The strain can reach THC levels of as high as 25%, which means that newcomers or those with low THC tolerance should approach it with caution.

The high is both energetic and social, and can be enjoyed during the daytime to help with fatigue, anxiety and stress. It has mood elevating properties that may help with mood disorders such as chronic depression. The strain can also help with minor pains, nausea and appetite loss.

Super Lemon Haze is not the easiest of strains to grow, but it is not a strain that requires a lot of attention. It may need some support during flowering and that period of growth can last from 56 to 65 days. The strain is well suited to the Screen of Green growing technique and inside growers may get as much as 500 grams per square meter of plant. Outdoors this can increase to as much as 800 grams per plant.
