What is a CBD Oil?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a natural remedy that is used for many common ailments. It is one of more than one hundred chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. However, unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), there is no psychoactive affect from CBD. This means that it does not get you ‘high’.

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, and then diluting it with a carrier oil such as coconut or hemp seed. Another ailment that CBD has been found to help is acne. A number of different factors causes acne, and it can be a real problem, especially for adults who are unlucky enough to suffer from it. However, CBD oil is thought to have anti-inflammatory properties and may also reduce the production of sebum, a major cause of acne.

Amazingly, CBD may also help to reduce symptoms related to cancer and the side effects of cancer treatment, such as nausea, vomiting and pain. There was even a study that found that concentrated CBD caused cancer cells to die. More work is needed before firm conclusions can be made, but the evidence of the benefits of CBD oil is growing all of the time.

How to Use CBD Oil

CBD oil is generally taken internally, you can add your required dose to your food or drink and simply consume it that way. It can be a little bit tricky to get the dosage right at first, but there are no serious side effects if you take too much so the experimentation shouldn’t do you any harm.

To help you find the right dose make sure that you know the strength of the oil that you have purchased. The oil bottle is likely to have a recommended dose on it so that is a good place to start. If you do not notice any change then you can increase the dosage gradually until you find the right amount for you.

As with the majority of herbal supplements, it is better to take small dosages a few times a day rather than one large dose.

Is There a Difference Between CBD Oil and Hemp Oil

There are many misconceptions surrounding this question. The two come from exactly the same plant. However, CBD comes from plants that contain no THC. CBD is completely legal and it is not considered a drug. However, because of the confusion surrounding this issue, very often CBD oil is called Hemp Oil. This disassociates it from drug use and it has helped to make it more socially acceptable.
