The people at Jet City Gardens believe that there is only one way to effectively cure cannabis, and that it does not involve plastic totes or turkey bags. They believe it requires constant care of small batches in glass jars or other special containers and a great deal of patience. They say that their “Pure Cured” process is time consuming, tedious, but essential.
Following a hang dry period of seven to ten days, and a hand trim, they place their buds in stainless steel CVault containers with Boveda Humidipaks specifically designed for curing. These containers are kept in a dark, climate-controlled room where they are periodically “burped” and closely monitored until 60 days from harvest.
This process allows bacteria to break down the majority of the remaining chlorophyll. While chlorophyll is the central part of the photosynthesis process, it contains the mineral magnesium and this causes smoke to be harsh. According to Jet City Gardens, slow curing significantly minimizes this effect and provides a smoother smoke.
They also believe that curing locks in aroma, flavor and potency, as it does with whisky, wine and coffee.
