A Sativa Dominant Hybrid

Trainwrech is a sativa dominant hybrid cannabis strain that has a spicy taste that is similar to pepper. Like most sativa dominant hybrids, Trainwreck provides an intense cerebral high with effects that are both mood enhancing and euphoric.

However, Trainwreck is different from a number of other hybrid strains as its indica effects are still very apparent, as it provides a pleasant, warm and pain relieving buzz.

When the strain is grown properly, its keeps the lazy couchlock inducing feelings of an indica strain but also provides the cerebral stimulation of a sativa strain, making it one of the most popular strains with recreational users. However, together with the usual dryness side effects, some users have reported experiencing paranoia, anxiety and dizziness.

While the indica effects are very much evident, Trainwreck still produces a mostly sativa high and medicinally it is often used by those who suffer from ADHD, PTSD and stress. It has also been used to help with chronic joint aches and muscle stiffness. Many users have said that just a few hits are needed to produce the cerebral effects and body high together with couchlock.

Trainwreck is thought to have been created by two Californian brothers in the late 1970s. It brings together three other strains, Thai (sativa), Mexican (sativa) and Afghani (indica). The original Trainwrech is around ninety percent sativa and just ten percent indica. According to the story, the brothers growing it had to pull their crop early as there was a train wreck near where they were growing and they did not want to be discovered.

The strain grows well both indoors and outdoors. The plants tend to grow quite tall, but thanks to the indica they also fill out well. If grown inside in hydro, a single plant can produce up to 500 grams per square meter. When it is grown outside the plants can yield up to 700 grams. The plant flowers somewhere between eight and ten weeks.

For many years Trainwreck was only available in clone form, but recently some places have been able to recreate seeds of the strain. Many have tried to imitate the strain, sometimes with great success, but real Trainwreck will have thin leaves and dense buds full of resin. The buds produce a strong citrus smell as they ripen.
